Sahrawi NGO calls for monitoring trial of Sahrawi students arrested in Marrakech

El Aaiun (Occupied Territories), August 29, 2016 (SPS) - Sahrawi Association of Victims of Grave Violations Committed by Moroccan State (ASVDH) launched an appeal Sunday to international organizations of human rights to be present to monitor a judgment of the first group of Sahrawi students who would be tried by a Moroccan tribunal in Marrakech, Morocco, on September 1.

The Saharawi human rights NGOs based in El Aaiun (occupied territories of Western Sahara), attracted the attention of the international community to the situation of 18 Sahrawi students under arrest at prison of Oudaya in Marrakech.

The Saharawi NGOs noted that their arrest by the Moroccan authorities represents an act of revenge against the young Sahrawis who carried out political activities for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination, especially considering that among them are activists of human rights in Western Sahara.
