Frente Polisario calls on UN SC to put an end to "destructive" acts of Morocco

Shaheed El Hafed, March 21, 2016 (SPS) - The Permanent Office of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, called on the international community, particularly the Security Council, to shoulder their responsibility and put an end to Morocco's current escalation to undermine the international legitimacy through its attack against the person of the UN SG and its pressure on the UN mission in Western Sahara (MINURSO).

In a statement sanctioning a meeting held Sunday, the Office asked the United Nations Security Council to intervene urgently to put an end to "destructive" acts carried out by Morocco and protect international legitimacy and the UN efforts to find a just and lasting solution guaranteeing the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence in accordance with the resolutions of the General Assembly of the United Nations and the African Union.

The Office strongly condemned the "unfounded and unjustified decision of Morocco, calling it "dangerous" which means the end of the MINURSO mission and the return of instability and war in the region."

The Office reiterated the willingness of the Polisario Front to continue its cooperation with the United Nations and the African Union to implement the resolutions of the Security Council to allow the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination and complete the process of decolonization in Western Sahara.

The Permanent Office of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front also denounced the holding of the Crans Montana Forum in the occupied city of Dakhla, considering it blatant violation of international law and a clear contribution in the consecration of the Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara and the plundering of its natural resources.
