The Forum on “The Role of Protection in the Promotion of Human Rights” continues its works in three workshops

Chahid El Hafed (SADR) 01 December 2021 (SPS)- The thematic forum on “The Role of Protection in the Promotion of Human Rights”, organized by the Saharawi National Commission for Human Rights (CONASADH) in partnership with the Movement for Peace (MPDL), organized at the Commission’s headquarters in Chahid El Hafed from the 30th November to the 2nd December, continued its works for the second day in the form of workshops after its opening yesterday, with the attendance of more than 60 participants.

Yesterday's lectures tackled three topics, mainly “Sahrawi women: 46 years, gains and achievements", presented by Mrs. Ummatha Mohamed Bouzid, member of CONASADH; “Sahrawi women's political participation" presented by Mrs. Warda Hamoudi Ahmed Baba, representing the Ministry of Social Affairs, and “Gender role” presented by Mrs. Mbarka Alina Moulay Brahim, Director of the Saharawi Gender School.

Based on these lectures, the works of the second day of this forum took place in three workshops, the first on “studying gender roles in the Saharawi society”, the second on “the reasons that hinder women’s political participation”, and the third on “Sahrawi women, gains and achievements”.

The forum was inaugurated yesterday in an opening session in the presence of the Minister of Social Affairs and the Promotion of Women, Mrs. Suielma Beiruk, the President of the Constitutional Council, Mr. Mohamed Bouzid, and the President of CONASADH, Mr. Abba El-Haissan, in addition to representatives of the Office of the High Commission for Refugees, MPDL, and civil society organizations.

The workshops are expected to present the results of their works tomorrow morning, and present general recommendations for the forum. (SPS)
