Saharawi ambassador in Algeria affirms AU must take into account Moroccan dangerous practices to international legality

Algeria, January 23, 2020 (SPS) - The Saharawi ambassador, Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, expressed Tuesday his hope that the next African Summit will take into account the "dangerous practices" adopted by the Morocco  against the Saharawi people and their sovereignty, by opening "consulates" in the Occupied Areas of Western Sahara, an act contrary to international law.

The Saharawi diplomat addressed, in a conversation held yesterday with the presence of the president of the Algerian National Committee of Solidarity with the Saharawi people, Said Ayachi, the systematic violations committed by the Moroccan occupier against the defenseless Saharawis in order to consecrate his occupation.

Abdelkader Taleb Omar outlined the mechanisms adopted by the African Union regarding the Saharawi issue, highlighting that they were not active and should play a decisive and effective role.SPS
