President of Republic takes part in XXX Summit of African Union Heads of State and Government

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), January 28, 2018 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, participated Sunday in the XXX Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, held at the headquarters of the Africa Union in Addis Ababa.  

During his participation in the closed session that preceded the opening ceremony of the summit, the President of the Republic, announced on behalf of the countries of the North African region, the candidacy of Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the rotating presidency of the African Union during the next year 2019.

At the opening of the Summit, the Chairman of the Commission of the African Union, Moussa Faki, emphasized that the issue of Western Sahara remains one of the African problems that requires a rapid solution.

The President of the Republic is accompanied by an important delegation, including Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed-Salem Ould-Salek, Secretary General of the Union of Saharawi Women, Fatma El-Mehdi, Minister of Economic Development, Adda Brahim , Delegate Minister for African Affairs, Hamdi Mayara, Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, Abdati Breika, , Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, Lamine Baali.
